With hidden hearts, Kumadori motifs and Olympic tie-ins, there is plenty to love about Japan's bold pink kit

Japan Cricket Association CEO Naoki Alex Miyaji has detailed the cultural and sporting inspirations behind Japan's popular pink national cricket kit. The bold sakura design captured international attention during Japan's recent match against T20 world champions India and at the Asian Games in Nagoya, sparking high demand from supporters ordering the tops directly by email.
The uniform combines cherry blossom pink with a blue associated with the Sano International Cricket Ground's local region. The design features traditional Kumadori theatre mask motifs, hidden hearts, sleeve patterns representing strength and good luck, and Team Japan Olympic elements stemming from cricket's inclusion in the Olympic Games.
