Harry Brook backed the decision to leave Adil Rashid out of England's XI against Sri Lanka in Rawalpindi, even after Sri Lanka chased down 430 to win by two wickets.
England captain Harry Brook defended the tactical omission of spinner Adil Rashid after Sri Lanka chased down 430 to win by two wickets in Rawalpindi. Sri Lanka finished on 430 for 8 to complete the second-highest successful run chase in ODI history. Brook had earlier scored 202 off 116 balls, recording England's first men's ODI double hundred and the format's quickest-ever double century.
Brook justified the selection of Liam Dawson, highlighting that Dawson was the team's most economical bowler with figures of 1 for 71. Former captain Nasser Hussain noted England's middle-overs bowling struggles, suggesting Rashid needs to regain form ahead of next year's World Cup. Rashid is expected to be in contention when England face Pakistan on Sunday in Lahore.
