Harry Brook became the first Englishman to score an ODI double century, but England still lost to Sri Lanka chasing 430 at Rawalpindi.
England captain Harry Brook stated his historic 202 had no value after his side lost to Sri Lanka in Rawalpindi. Brook became the first Englishman to score an ODI double century, hitting 21 fours and 10 sixes to help England post 429/4. However, Sri Lanka pulled off an extraordinary run chase to successfully overhaul the 430-run target.
Sri Lanka's historic pursuit was powered by Pavan Rathnayake's 130, along with 97 from both Avishka Fernando and Dasun Shanaka. Janith Liyanage sealed the win with an unbeaten 61 from 27 balls despite Josh Tongue's 3/79. Earlier, Joe Root scored 69 to become the first Englishman to reach 8,000 ODI runs.
