Former captain "more motivated than ever" to return to fitness after injury sustained during Sri Lanka series

Jos Buttler has undergone surgery on his left hamstring following an injury sustained while batting against Sri Lanka on September 24. The 36-year-old former England captain confirmed the successful operation from a hospital bed on Monday, stating he feels more motivated than ever to return to full fitness. No official recovery timeframe has been confirmed, but the lay-off rules him out of upcoming fixtures.
Buttler will miss England's tri-series in Pakistan and the November tour of Australia, while his scheduled SA20 stint starting in January is also in doubt. Despite the setback, the ECB granted Buttler a one-year central contract extension on Monday, with managing director Rob Key confirming he remains factored into plans for next year's 50-over World Cup.
