A century against Services after a season of 72 runs, and a message to the dugout: ’I am still playing, still performing, still alive’

Maharashtra batter Ankit Bawne scored an unbeaten 105 off 232 deliveries against Services on the opening day of the Ranji Trophy at Palam. The century marked Bawne's 25th First-Class hundred, helping guide Maharashtra to 287/5 at stumps after he endured a difficult prior season where he scored just 72 runs.
Now 34 and approaching 20 years in domestic cricket, Bawne stated he retains the ambition to earn a national call-up for India. He cited veteran cricketers like Paras Dogra as proof that age should not prevent players from continuing to target national selection with strong domestic performances.
