India retained the women’s compound archery gold medal at the Asian Games on Wednesday, producing a dominant performance against China and matching the world record score in the process.
India defended their women's compound archery title at the Asian Games by defeating China 238-234 in the final on Wednesday at Okazaki Chuo Sogo Park. The Indian trio consisting of Jyothi Surekha Vennam, Chikitha Taniparthi, and Prithika Pradeep matched South Korea's world record score during their gold medal triumph over China's Wunier, Yue Wang, and Fangyao Wei.
To reach the final, India narrowly edged past South Korea 234-233 in a tightly contested semifinal. The victory secured back-to-back Asian Games gold medals for the Indian women's compound team following their previous triumph at the 2023 Games in Hangzhou.
