It was almost an encore of their Indian Super League opener as NorthEast United once again looked set for a very late win on Saturday as Odisha FC defender Stephen Eze conceded a penalty in the fifth minute of injury…
Odisha FC held NorthEast United FC to a 0-0 draw at Kalinga Stadium after Alaaeddine Ajaraie missed a stoppage-time penalty. Odisha defender Stephen Eze conceded a handball in the box during the 95th minute, but Ajaraie's subsequent spot kick struck the woodwork. The result gave Odisha their first point of the season and moved NorthEast United to the top of the Indian Super League table.
NorthEast United dominated several attacking spells through Ajaraie, Nikola Ninkovic, and Jithin MS, but Odisha goalkeeper Hrithik Tiwary made crucial interventions to preserve the clean sheet. TS Purushothaman's defensive setup, anchored by Eze, Jeremy Zohminghlua, and Thoiba Singh Moirangthem, successfully frustrated the visitors throughout the match.
