India's World Cup-winning captain Harmanpreet Kaur has stepped down from the role across all three formats.

India's World Cup-winning captain Harmanpreet Kaur has stepped down from her leadership role across all three formats of cricket. The 37-year-old batter led India to their first-ever global women's cricket title at the 2025 50-over World Cup, defeating South Africa in the final on home soil. She concluded her tenure after leading the team to a second straight Asian Games gold medal.
Harmanpreet captained India in five Tests, 51 ODIs, and 155 T20Is after initially taking charge of the T20 side in 2016. Smriti Mandhana is likely to succeed her as captain. Kaur confirmed she will continue playing for the national team ahead of upcoming series against Zimbabwe and South Africa.
