Shafali dons lead role, Smriti Mandhana plays sidekick in nine-wicket win

India defeated Zimbabwe by nine wickets in the second T20I to secure an unassailable 2-0 series lead. Chasing a modest target of 103 runs, openers Shafali Verma and captain Smriti Mandhana shared a 96-run partnership. Verma smashed 55 off 25 balls, while Mandhana finished unbeaten on 47 off 25 deliveries, guiding India to 104/1 in just 8.5 overs.
Earlier, Zimbabwe posted 102/8 in their 20 overs, led by Chipo Mugeri-Tiripano's 34 and captain Josephine Nkomo's 27. India's Niki Prasad made history by taking two wickets with the first two balls of her international bowling career, dismissing Mugeri-Tiripano and Nyasha Gwanzura to derail Zimbabwe's innings.
