Mumbai Indians have appointed former all-rounder Kieron Pollard as their new head coach ahead of the IPL 2027 season. Pollard replaces Mahela Jayawardene, who stepped down from the position prior to the upcoming auction. Pollard expressed his gratitude to franchise owners Nita Ambani and Akash Ambani, stating that taking on the role is an honor.
Pollard has maintained a long association with the franchise as both a player and coach. Jayawardene previously coached the team from 2017 to 2022 and again for the last two seasons. Mumbai Indians, who last secured the IPL title in 2020, will rely on Pollard to return the franchise to championship form.
