Naman Dhir made a strong statement on his T20I debut against the West Indies, and his performance has already led to questions about Washington Sundar’s place in India’s white-ball teams.
Former India cricketer Krishnamachari Srikkanth stated that Naman Dhir's strong T20I debut against the West Indies could end Washington Sundar's white-ball career. Dhir, replacing the injury-prone Sundar, took 3/31 in four overs to help restrict the West Indies to 171 as India took a 1-0 series lead. Srikkanth argued that Dhir's emergence makes it difficult for selectors to drop him from limited-overs squads.
Srikkanth also used Dhir's performance to advocate for removing the Impact Player rule in the IPL, arguing it hinders all-rounders. Dhir noted in response that he regularly practices his bowling and adjusted his pace successfully after observing Axar Patel.
