Portugal head coach Jorge Jesus has confirmed that Cristiano Ronaldo can return to the national team if he decides to do so. The 41-year-old captain departed the squad after being benched against Norway and informed he would not start against Denmark. Jesus emphasized that Ronaldo himself will decide how to conclude his international career before the next squad selection.
Portuguese Football Federation president Pedro Proenca also supported Ronaldo, calling the situation an internal misunderstanding and confirming the forward remains in Portugal's plans. Despite Ronaldo's absence, Portugal defeated Denmark and Norway 2-1 to reach the Nations League quarter-finals. Portugal will next face Denmark and Wales in November.
