Shikhar Mohan hails from Doranda, a familiar corner of Ranchi known for its educational institutions, PG accommodations and its much-loved litti chokha stall, whose popularity extends beyond the city limits.
Ranchi-born opening batsman Shikhar Mohan has emerged as a standout young cricket talent in Indian domestic cricket. Following a debut season in which he scored 613 runs, the 21-year-old left-hander opened the new Ranji Trophy season with a score of 143 against Kerala in Jamshedpur, alongside strong performances in both the Duleep Trophy and Irani Trophy.
Mohan credited coaches Ratan Kumar and Ishank Jaggi, as well as East Zone teammate Ishan Kishan, for refining his concentration and shot selection on red-soil surfaces. Having previously dominated age-group tournaments, Mohan has also attended a trial with the Mumbai Indians.
