Gayle previously held the record for his 175* in IPL 2013

South Africa's Lhuan-dre Pretorius has broken Chris Gayle's record for the highest individual score in men's T20 cricket, hitting an unbeaten 188 off 79 balls. The 20-year-old left-handed opener achieved the milestone for the Titans against the Knights in the CSA T20 Challenge in Bloemfontein on October 2, 2026. His third career T20 century eclipsed Gayle's previous world-record mark of 175 not out set in the 2013 Indian Premier League.
Pretorius struck 13 sixes and 15 fours, reaching his half-century in 24 deliveries and his hundred in just 40 balls. His explosive innings powered the Titans to 267 for 3, marking the second-highest team total in CSA T20 Challenge history.
