He had missed the first Test against Australia "from a precautionary point of view" but remained with the squad and was shown bowling with increasing intensity

Kagiso Rabada is progressing well in his recovery from a hamstring injury and could return for South Africa's second Test against Australia in Gqeberha. Rabada missed the opening Test as a precautionary measure but remained with the squad, where he was seen bowling with increasing intensity during training.
Captain Temba Bavuma confirmed that Rabada was given extra time to rehabilitate and could slot back into the starting lineup. If cleared by the medical staff, Rabada is likely to replace Anrich Nortje, who shouldered a heavy 40-over workload during the series opener.
