‘It does not surprise me’ – Wasim Jaffer backs Zaheer Khan’s appointment as CSK head coach

Former India batter Wasim Jaffer has publicly supported the appointment of Zaheer Khan as Chennai Super Kings' head coach for IPL 2027. Khan signed a one-year contract, marking his first stint as a franchise head coach. The decision follows the end of Stephen Fleming's 16-year tenure, during which Chennai Super Kings won five Indian Premier League championships.

Speaking on his YouTube channel, Jaffer praised Khan's composure, understanding of player personalities, and strategic sensibility. Khan previously served as a mentor for Lucknow Super Giants until September 2025 and held executive cricket roles with Mumbai Indians from 2018 to 2022.
