Kevin Pietersen addressed questions about his absence from England's Pakistan assignment, confirming his contracted role with the Wales Cricket Board runs until the 2027 Men's ODI World Cup.
Kevin Pietersen has publicly clarified his position with the England men's white-ball team, confirming he is a specialist consultant rather than a full-time employee. The clarification followed questions regarding his absence from England's recent assignment in Pakistan, where he was instead spotted attending a golf tournament in Delhi. Pietersen explained that his contract covers approximately 150 days of engagement leading up to the 2027 Men's ODI World Cup.
His role does not require attendance on every tour, though he is scheduled to join England for upcoming tours of Australia and South Africa, as well as group matches at the 2027 World Cup. Pietersen works alongside head coach Brendon McCullum and support staff members Marcus Trescothick, Tim Southee, Jeetan Patel, and Sarah Taylor.
