The New Zealand T20I captain surpasses Ish Sodhi's tally of 142 appearances to stand alone at the top of his country's all-time T20I caps list.
Mitchell Santner has become the most-capped T20I player in New Zealand history after making his 143rd appearance during the fifth T20I against India in 2026. The 34-year-old all-rounder and T20I captain surpassed teammate Ish Sodhi, who previously held the national record with 142 matches in the shortest format.
The milestone capped a significant series for Santner, who also became the third New Zealander to claim 150 T20I wickets during the fourth match in Auckland. On the all-time appearance list, Santner now leads Sodhi (142), Tim Southee (126), Martin Guptill (122), and Daryl Mitchell (109).
