Bangladesh Test captain Najmul Hossain Shanto has asked Mominul Haque to develop his bowling role, and the left-arm spinner has accepted the challenge to provide relief to frontline spinners.
Bangladesh batter Mominul Haque has accepted captain Najmul Hossain Shanto's request to develop and expand his bowling role ahead of upcoming Test matches. The left-arm spinner aims to provide crucial relief and rotation for frontline spinners Taijul Islam and Mehidy Hasan Miraz. Mominul has spent extended net sessions working with the Bangladesh Cricket Board's High Performance Unit coaching staff to prepare for the responsibility.
Mominul last bowled in a Test match in 2023, claiming figures of 3 for 4 against New Zealand in Sylhet. Team management views his bowling as a valuable asset to manage bowler workloads and introduce variety. His first opportunity to display his expanded bowling focus could arrive during Bangladesh's two-match Test series against the West Indies, scheduled to begin on October 28, 2026.
