If one takes a quick scan of India’s ODI resources for next year’s World Cup in South Africa, the pace cupboard wears a bare and fragile look. There’s only Jasprit Bumrah who truly commands a place in the XI.
India ODI captain Shubman Gill stated there is no time left to experiment ahead of the upcoming World Cup, urging the availability of his first-choice squad. Speaking after India's series win over the West Indies in New Chandigarh on Saturday, Gill voiced concerns over injuries, scheduling conflicts, and bowling issues in both the powerplay and death overs.
Gill also highlighted the need to find a fast bowler capable of batting at No. 8, pointing to debuts for Anshul Kamboj and Auqib Nabi amid Harshit Rana's recurring injuries. In addition, the captain criticized India's fielding standards, noting approximately seven dropped catches occurred across the series.
