The former India wicketkeeper-batter recommended the young pacer to RCB management during the IPL 2014 mega auction, but the franchise dismissed the suggestion.
Former India wicketkeeper-batter Parthiv Patel revealed that Royal Challengers Bangalore ignored his recommendation to sign Jasprit Bumrah during the 2014 IPL mega auction. Speaking in an interview with Aakash Chopra, Parthiv recalled advising RCB management to consider the young fast bowler on the first day of the auction, but the franchise dismissed the suggestion outright.
Following RCB's refusal, Bumrah was signed by Mumbai Indians for ₹1.20 crore after competing with Delhi Daredevils and Rajasthan Royals. Bumrah subsequently became a cornerstone of Mumbai Indians' bowling attack, taking 187 wickets in 158 IPL matches with an economy rate of 7.33.
