Rohit Sharma guided me on captaincy at his home, says Ayush Mhatre

India Under-19 captain Ayush Mhatre revealed that Rohit Sharma mentored him on leadership after his appointment. Speaking on a podcast with Aakash Chopra, Mhatre shared that he contacted Rohit for advice on handling the team, prompting the senior India captain to invite him to his home. Rohit spent substantial time discussing captaincy nuances and also spoke with Mhatre's father.

Mhatre led India to a record-extending sixth U19 World Cup title in 2026, defeating England by 100 runs in the final. Beyond international youth cricket, Mhatre has played for Chennai Super Kings, scoring 441 runs across 13 IPL matches, and recalled being initially intimidated when first meeting MS Dhoni.
