Springer earns his maiden Test call-up with Paul withdrawn for "personal and family reasons"

Shamar Springer has received his maiden Test call-up, joining the West Indies squad for their upcoming two-match Test tour of Bangladesh. The 28-year-old seam-bowling allrounder replaces Keemo Paul, who has returned home for personal and family reasons. Contenders Ojay Shields and Nial Smith were also considered but ruled out due to injury.
West Indies will also be without rested white-ball captain Shai Hope and fast bowler Alzarri Joseph. Following the conclusion of their white-ball series in India, the team travels to Bangladesh, where the first Test begins on October 28 in Mirpur.
