The New Zealand left-arm quick joins fellow countryman Lockie Ferguson at Sydney Thunder on a one-year deal covering the full season, including the finals.
Sydney Thunder have signed New Zealand left-arm fast bowler Trent Boult on a one-year deal for the entire BBL 2026-27 season, including the finals. The signing reunites Boult with fellow Kiwi fast bowler Lockie Ferguson under head coach Andrew Flintoff, who took charge in June 2026. This marks Boult's return to the Big Bash League, having last featured for Melbourne Stars during the 2022-23 campaign.
Boult's full-season commitment comes despite potential scheduling overlaps with South Africa's SA20 tournament, where he is expected to represent MI Cape Town. Thunder management hopes the veteran international pairing will solve the team's struggles with taking wickets with the new ball.
