India captain Shreyas Iyer has advised young batter Vaibhav Sooryavanshi to remain patient after he sat out all five matches in the drawn T20I series against the West Indies. Iyer explained that regular openers Sanju Samson and Abhishek Sharma were performing consistently, making it difficult to fit the youngster into the starting lineup. The five-match series concluded in a 2-2 draw following a rain-abandoned final match in Bengaluru.
Samson and Sharma each scored two half-centuries across the series, retaining their spots at the top of the order. Iyer also acknowledged that bowling lapses in the second and fourth matches prevented a better series result, while praising West Indies captain Shai Hope, who earned Player of the Series honors with 261 runs.
