Jack Aitken has clinched the 2026 IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship GTP title after starting the 29th Motul Petit Le Mans at Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta. Driving the #31 Cadillac Whelen V-Series.R, Aitken only needed to take the green flag to secure the drivers' title, which also confirmed the GTP team championship for Action Express Racing and the manufacturers' championship for Cadillac.
Aitken entered the race in a commanding position after qualifying fourth, outscoring his lone championship rival Laurin Heinrich, who qualified seventh in the #7 Porsche Penske Motorsport Porsche 963. After completing the start, Aitken was running in sixth position at the end of the opening hour of the 10-hour endurance contest.
