Max Verstappen claimed his first victory of the 2026 Formula 1 season for Red Bull at the Bahrain Grand Prix, staged at the Sepang International Circuit in Malaysia. After securing pole position on Saturday, Verstappen managed mixed weather conditions, heavy rain, and Safety Car restarts on Sunday to take the win ahead of Mercedes driver Kimi Antonelli and Ferrari's Lewis Hamilton.
Antonelli's second-place finish expanded his championship lead after Mercedes teammate George Russell suffered a late power unit failure from third position. Ferrari's Hamilton and Charles Leclerc both staged impressive recovery drives following an early strategy misstep on slick tires, finishing third and fourth respectively, while Fernando Alonso secured eighth place for Aston Martin.
