Former Formula 1 driver David Coulthard believes Aston Martin will take significant steps forward under Adrian Newey, suggesting the team could eventually challenge for victories. Speaking on the Up To Speed podcast, Coulthard noted that Newey is already influencing positive technical changes at the Silverstone squad despite a difficult 2026 campaign plagued by performance and engine deficits.
Aston Martin has scored only three points in 2026, struggling with poor straight-line speed and an underpowered Honda engine. However, with Fernando Alonso and Lance Stroll confirmed as drivers for 2027, Coulthard expects the team and Honda to eventually resolve their issues.
