According to a report from Mundo Deportivo, the Spaniard's new base salary is expected to exceed $40 million (£30.1 million), establishing him as the third-highest earner on the Formula 1 grid.

Alonso's new earnings place him behind Lewis Hamilton, who reportedly earns an estimated $70.5 million (£53.2 million) annually at Ferrari, and Red Bull's Max Verstappen, whose deal is reportedly valued at $100 million (£75.2 million) per year.
