Fernando Alonso expressed pleasant surprise regarding Aston Martin's race pace at the Sao Paulo Grand Prix, praising the car's cornering performance as phenomenal. Although Alonso slipped from P9 on the grid to finish in P12, he battled competitive rivals and overtook Lewis Hamilton on track during tricky, wet conditions.
Alonso noted that while the car lacked top speed on straightaways, the Adrian Newey-designed aerodynamic package performed well against Ferrari and Mercedes. Aston Martin looks to build momentum ahead of 2027, with Honda aiming to improve its power unit design for the next season.
