A lawsuit is bubbling away behind the scenes as F1 gears up for the United States Grand Prix.

Former Formula 1 fuel flow meter supplier Sentronics Holdings LTD has filed a federal patent infringement lawsuit against replacement supplier Allengra GmbH ahead of the United States Grand Prix. Filed on October 16 in the US District Court for the Western District of Texas, the lawsuit alleges that the ultrasonic fuel flow measurement sensors currently fitted to all F1 cars violate Sentronics' US patent number 11,391,609.
Sentronics served as the FIA's exclusive supplier from 2018 to 2025 before Allengra secured the contract from 2026 to 2030. The lawsuit is not expected to disrupt the United States Grand Prix weekend in Austin, as Sentronics has sought damages rather than an emergency ban on the parts.
