Earlier this week, Formula 1 announced that it will head back to Africa in the early 2030s with a new purpose-built track in Rwanda.

South African Minister Gayton McKenzie has criticized the idea that Formula 1 should only hold a single race across the African continent. His comments follow F1's announcement of a deal to race at a new purpose-built circuit in Rwanda in the early 2030s, marking the championship's first African event since the 1993 South African Grand Prix.
McKenzie stated that limiting a 54-country continent to one race reflects a defeatist mindset compared to Europe, the United States, and the Middle East. He expressed confidence that South Africa could host an F1 championship event in 2028 or 2029 alongside Rwanda.
