The NTT IndyCar Series has confirmed it will race overseas at the Barcelona Circuit in Spain on July 18, 2027. The event marks the championship's first race in Spain as part of a newly signed multi-year deal with the venue. Penske Entertainment President and CEO Mark Miles called the announcement a monumental day for the sport, noting the opportunity to showcase IndyCar in the home country of champion Alex Palou.
The race will be IndyCar's first event outside North America since competing in Sao Paulo, Brazil, in 2013. Although previous discussions for events in Mexico, Brazil, and Argentina had stalled, series organizers solved logistical hurdles to schedule this European championship round during the middle of the season.
