The Story in 60 Seconds

Liam Lawson has been disqualified from qualifying at the Mexico City Grand Prix due to a technical regulation breach. The Racing Bulls driver had originally secured seventh place on the grid before stewards intervened and relegated him to the back of the field for Sunday's race.

Stewards determined that Lawson failed to lift off the power immediately after completing his flying lap in Q2, violating MGU-K deployment step-down requirements. Although Racing Bulls self-disclosed the breach and argued it gave no advantage, the FIA mandated disqualification under established technical precedents.
