Sky Sports Formula 1 pundit Naomi Schiff has warned that recurring power unit reliability issues at Mercedes could cost Kimi Antonelli race victories and jeopardize his championship campaign. Schiff noted that these mechanical troubles have affected not only Antonelli but also teammate George Russell and other customer cars across the grid.
The warning follows Russell's late-race engine failure while fighting for a podium position at the Sepang International Circuit. While Antonelli leads the championship standings on 320 points over Russell's 236 points, Schiff highlighted that ongoing technical failures could also significantly hurt Mercedes in the constructors' standings against competitors like Red Bull.
