Charles Leclerc secured second place in qualifying for the Azerbaijan Grand Prix, placing Ferrari on the front row alongside pole-sitter George Russell of Mercedes. Leclerc finished more than eight-tenths of a second behind Russell, while narrowly beating McLaren driver Oscar Piastri by one thousandth of a second to claim P2.
Following the session, Leclerc admitted that Ferrari had maximized the potential of the SF-26 and could not easily explain the large gap to Mercedes. He noted that unpredictable car handling limited his confidence near the barriers, ultimately costing him time throughout the lap.
