Adrian Newey seriously considered joining Ferrari in 2014, former Red Bull team principal Christian Horner has revealed. As he revealed himself in a 2023 interview…

Christian Horner revealed that Adrian Newey considered joining Ferrari in 2014 due to frustration with Renault's underperforming Formula 1 turbo-hybrid engines. Red Bull had just secured four consecutive championships with Sebastian Vettel before being overtaken by Mercedes at the start of the hybrid era, prompting Newey to contemplate a switch to the Italian team.
To convince Newey to remain, Red Bull established its Advanced Technologies division, allowing him to work on external projects like America's Cup sailing boats and the Aston Martin Valkyrie. Newey ultimately stayed with Red Bull for another decade before departing in 2024 to join Aston Martin.
