Jenson Button feels Lewis Hamilton took his first pole with Ferrari at the 2026 Mexico City Grand Prix after gaining confidence from driving smoothly, yet…

Lewis Hamilton claimed pole position for the 2026 Mexico City Grand Prix with Ferrari, clocking a benchmark lap of 1:16.514 to beat Mercedes driver George Russell by 0.009 seconds. The result marked Hamilton's 105th career pole and his first since the 2023 Hungarian Grand Prix, making the 41-year-old the oldest Formula 1 polesitter since Mario Andretti in 1982.
Analyzing the lap on Sky Sports F1, former teammate Jenson Button praised Hamilton's smooth driving but noted a mistake at Turn 2, where hitting the inside kerb triggered oversteer. Hamilton caught the slide to minimize time loss, ultimately securing his first pole position for the Scuderia.
