Sergio Perez believes the current cost cap is "unfair" to smaller teams as the F1 Commission sits to vote on potential rule tweak for 2027.

Sergio Perez has criticized Formula 1's cost cap regulations as unfair to smaller competitors ahead of an upcoming F1 Commission vote. The Cadillac driver stated that flat-rate spending limits widen performance gaps because smaller and newer organizations lack the efficiency of established front-runners, contrasting his current experience with his previous tenure at Red Bull.
Perez's comments align with Williams team principal James Vowles, who proposed introducing a sliding-scale cost cap starting in 2027. The proposal will face an F1 Commission vote next month, where Vowles needs six votes to secure approval, while the General Motors-backed Cadillac team remains 11th in the championship without a point.
