Toto Wolff plans for Mercedes to work specifically with George Russell to help close the performance gap that has emerged between the British driver and team-mate Kimi Antonelli.

Mercedes team principal Toto Wolff has defended George Russell following an inconsistent season, stating that the team must work with the British driver to address his performance deficit compared to team-mate Kimi Antonelli. Despite starting the year as a title favorite, Russell has struggled when the car drops out of its optimal operational window while Antonelli nears the championship.
Wolff insisted that Russell is not inherently tenths of a second slower than Antonelli and reaffirmed his belief in Russell's elite ability. He explained that Mercedes takes responsibility for adapting car modifications and setup configurations to better suit Russell's driving style.
