Mini Driver Off the Tee vs. Off the Fairway: What The Data Shows

Testing data from six mini drivers in 2026 revealed significant performance differences between hitting off a tee versus off the turf. Shots struck off a tee produced an average carry distance of 237.4 yards, compared to 226.2 yards off the turf, marking an 11.2-yard advantage. The distance gains were primarily driven by higher launch angles and reduced spin rates achieved from a tee lie.

While tee shots generated higher peak heights and faster speeds, hitting off the turf yielded superior accuracy and tighter dispersion. Turf shots averaged a target proximity of 43.4 feet compared to 50.3 feet from a tee. Additionally, higher-spinning clubs performed best off the deck to sustain carry, whereas lower-spinning clubs proved optimal for tee performance.
