Rory McIlroy and Patrick Reed have had a frosty relationship over the last few years. But things are thawing after Reed's LIV Golf exit.

Rory McIlroy stated that Patrick Reed has earned his respect following Reed's departure from LIV Golf and subsequent path back to the PGA Tour. Speaking after his first round at the DP World India Championship, McIlroy praised Reed for accepting his suspension and letting his performance on the DP World Tour dictate his comeback.
Reed left LIV Golf in January and accepted a one-year PGA Tour suspension, choosing to play through the DP World Tour's Race to Dubai standings to secure his 2027 PGA Tour return. The improved relationship marks a major shift from previous years, which included lawsuits and an incident at the 2023 Dubai Desert Classic.
