The Story in 60 Seconds

The Presidents Cup and Ryder Cup are both biennial men's team match-play golf events, but they share several key operational differences. Unlike the Ryder Cup where the United States faces European golfers, the Presidents Cup pits the US team against an International squad composed solely of non-European players. Additionally, non-US host venues for the Presidents Cup are located exclusively outside of Europe, such as the 2026 contest at Medinah.

Scheduling and team composition also contrast significantly between the two events. The Presidents Cup spans four days and features 30 total matches, compared to the three-day, 28-match format of the Ryder Cup. While both tournaments currently utilize six automatic qualifiers and six captain's picks per roster, each competition relies on its own separate points qualification system.
