Former world number one Lee Westwood expects the PGA Tour to "play hardball" with its European counterparts following the demise of LIV.

Lee Westwood expressed concern regarding the future of the DP World Tour following the collapse of LIV Golf. The Saudi-backed breakaway tour confirmed plans to wind down operations after Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund withdrew financial backing and potential investors pulled out. Westwood stated that the European circuit may lose leverage without LIV as a rival, warning that PGA Tour chief executive Brian Rolapp could make heavy demands in future alliance negotiations.
A DP World Tour spokesperson dismissed Westwood's concerns, maintaining the tour is in a robust position with strong cash reserves after weathering LIV's unsustainable model. Westwood, who faces a 10-tournament suspension if he rejoins the European circuit, highlighted uncertainty around future prize funds and questioned whether European players might now find a better pathway to the PGA Tour via the US-based Korn Ferry Tour.
