Champion harness racing driver Chris Alford captured his 144th Australian Group 1 victory aboard I Am Wilma at Melton last Saturday night. Teaming up with co-trainer Chris Lang, Alford piloted the mare through the sprint lane to secure a record fifth win in the Group 1 Bill Collins Trotters' Sprint.
The 58-year-old boasts an Australasian record of 8,473 career victories and requires just one more win to reach 100 victories for the season. Alford returns to Melton this Saturday night with four drives, including two horses he trains alongside his wife, Alison.
