PHOENIX — The Arizona Diamondbacks will be looking for a new voice to oversee their pitching staff in 2027. According to MLB.com’s Steve Gilbert, the D-Backs aren’t expected to bring back Brian Kaplan after spending two seasons in the Valley.
The Arizona Diamondbacks will not bring back pitching coach Brian Kaplan for the 2027 season, according to MLB.com's Steve Gilbert. Kaplan's contract expired after two years with the franchise, ending a stint that began prior to the 2025 campaign when he took over the role from previous pitching coach Brent Strom.
Under Kaplan, Arizona's pitching staff improved from a 4.49 ERA in 2025 to a 4.18 ERA in 2026, while the club posted an 86-76 record. Manager Torey Lovullo, who recently signed a two-year extension, indicated further coaching staff decisions will be determined soon.
