Arizona Diamondbacks manager Torey Lovullo faces an uncertain future after his contract expired following the team's elimination from playoff contention on the final day of the regular season. Arizona entered September 6.5 games out of the final National League Wild Card spot and narrowed the deficit to 1.0 game before dropping two straight games to the San Diego Padres to finish the season.
Lovullo stated postgame that he wants to win a championship in Arizona but noted that he has decisions to make and wants to be wanted. Despite backing from team leadership and players, the organization has yet to extend a new contract offer to Lovullo, who has managed the club since 2017.
