A’s Lose Final Game Of The Year To Astros 9-0

The Houston Astros defeated the Athletics 9-0 in the final game of the regular season on September 27. With the victory, Houston finished the season at 81-81 and secured the AL West title along with a postseason berth. The Athletics concluded their season with a 64-98 record after managing only five hits and three walks.

Athletics opener Seth Johnson pitched 1 2/3 scoreless innings before Brady Basso surrendered four runs in the third inning. Houston added insurance runs against relievers Scott Blewitt, Chris Roycroft, and Geoff Hartlieb. Pitchers Peter Lambert and Ethan Pecko combined to keep the Athletics scoreless.
