The Athletics concluded their 2026 season with a 9-0 loss to the Houston Astros at Sutter Health Park, finishing fourth in the AL West with a 64-98 record. Managed by Mark Kotsay, Oakland won 12 fewer games than in 2025 after suffering a severe drop in form following a 38-38 start through June 19.
Injuries heavily disrupted the roster, as Brent Rooker, Nick Kurtz, Jacob Wilson, Shea Langeliers, and Tyler Soderstrom combined to miss 340 games on the injured list. Starting pitcher Luis Severino also missed the remainder of the season starting May 30, while the pitching staff surrendered a franchise-record 247 home runs.
