Just because the Atlanta Braves are done for the year here in 2026, that doesn’t mean that the rumor mill needs to stop. In fact, apparently we’re still learning new details about trades that didn’t happen all the way back…

The Atlanta Braves reportedly refused to include 21-year-old pitcher Didier Fuentes in potential trade discussions with the Detroit Tigers for Tarik Skubal prior to the August trade deadline. According to Peter Abraham of the Boston Globe, the Braves were unwilling to part with the young hurler, showing how highly the organization values him for its future plans.
Writer Demetrius Bell suggests that keeping Fuentes indicates the Braves view him as a long-term piece who could potentially transition back into a starting rotation role. Skubal was ultimately dealt elsewhere, while Atlanta preserved Fuentes, who served as a high-leverage reliever during the team's postseason run.
